Dewann has been a faithful and dedicated member of TNBA for nearly 35 years, beginning as far back as his years as a youth bowler in the 1970s. He found out just how great the National Bowling Association was back in 1977 in Detroit, MI, when attending his very first convention. He was part of the first group of junior bowlers ever brought to TNBAs National Convention as one of the charter members of the Junior Council Program. Although he was excited about being introduced to the entire convention body, he particularly remembers his introduction to several of its founders and recalls a candid conversation with J. Elmer Reed. Over the years, and from his mentor Leroy Williams, Dewann has been enlightened by the history of TNBA. Since his introduction to the organization, much of his personal time and financial resources have been dedicated to TNBA and youth bowling programs.

Dewann has a vast amount of experience as a successful businessman, entrepreneur and corporate executive. Even prior to achieving a B. S. in engineering that was received while on a full athletic scholarship as a member of the California State University Los Angeles bowling team, Dewann has been immersed in the world of bowling. His knowledge extends beyond life as just a bowler and league officer, but as program director for a chain of bowling centers, an accomplished tournament director, and as the executive director of a nationally acclaimed youth bowling program.

Pearlie has been a hard working and dedicated TNBA member since joining in 1976. She began enjoying the sport of bowling even before that time, and has coordinated tournaments, has been secretary for several TNBA sanctioned leagues, and has attached many bowling accomplishments to her name over the years

A member of the Los Angeles TNBA Senate for 32 years, Pearlie has spent the last two years serving as a delegate for the Los Angeles Senate. Throughout her 32 years membership, she has only missed 2 National TNBA Tournaments and 1 Western Regional TNBA tournament. There can be no better gauge for her dedication to the TNBA organization.

In 1981, Pearlie was a member of the winning Mixed Team in Las Vegas. Her highest score ever at a TNBA tournament was a 289 during the Mixed Doubles Event that year. She has also cashed after shooting a nice 277 during a Western Regional Tournament Singles Event, when she shot her highest TNBA tournament series ever – a 769!

Pearlie is currently Secretary for the Tuesday morning 555 Scratch Trio league at AMF Bowl-o-Drome in Torrance California, which is a sanctioned TNBA League. She is also a dedicated member of the Manchester and Western Bowling Club (1966-present) serving as the Financial Treasurer.

Since arriving in Los Angeles from Arkansas in 1964, Dee has been bowling. At the time she moved west, there were bowling centers in Little Rock that did not welcome African Americans to bowl. Ironically, there is now a TNBA Senate in that city and it's President is a close friend and someone she works closely with as a National Tournament staff member.

Dee was introduced to bowling at Sportsman Center by her uncle (Alex Patterson,) who purchased her very first ball, bag, and shoes for her. He was also her first bowling instructor. She regularly practiced at Century Bowl & Pico Bowl since those centers were near her home. Eventually she joined several leagues at Midtown Bowl, when Al Yoshinaga was the manager.

It was at Midtown Lanes in Los Angeles where she was recruited to join The National Bowling Association. At the time, Leroy Williams was President, and It was her participation in the National tournament hosted in LA that year that motivated her to become an active member of TNBA. Mary "Soul" Davis helped guide Dee's rise through the ranks where she would ultimately be appointed National Singles and Doubles House Manager by then Tournament Director Jim Alston. 15 years later, Dee continues her dedication to TNBA by working Regional & National Tournaments.

Dee raised 3 children, who also loved to bowl. Her daughters Michelle and Toni were junior TNBA bowlers, and still enjoys recreational bowling. Her son was an avid bowler, but was lost at the age of 22. Since bowling runs in her family, it is likely her 6 grandchildren and great grandchild will follow suit.

Millie started bowling in 1974 at Picwood Bowl in West Los Angeles hosting a beginner’s league for Century City Hospital employees. She started, while only initially carrying an 89 average. However she persevered, and in the fall of 1975 she joined a Las Vegas league for beginners at West Pico Bowl, because of her desire to visit Las Vegas. It was through that experience that she was able to improve her game and become a more competitive player.

While bowling at West Pico she also became secretary of the ladies Tuesday night league. The league eventually moved to Midtown Bowl, where she developed a deeper interest in the sport through the "Fun timers" Tuesday night league. Millie also became a member of the Afro-American League, a traveling league, managed by Carol Thrower and Maxine Goulsby.

In 1979 Millie joined the Southwest Women's Bowling Club and held the positions of Secretary, Vice-President, and President - all over the course of 14 years. Her bowling experiences ultimately allowed her to shoot her highest game ever - a 287 in 1996 at the California Women's State Tournament.

In 1980, Ms. Grant discovered TNBA and was fascinated by all the great bowling and camaraderie within the organization, and decided to become a member of the LA Senate. She bowled in the TNBA Western Regional’s Tournament in Las Vegas that year, and cashed "all-events" that same year (1980). Since then, she’s attended many TNBA conventions and continues to participate as both a bowler and delegate.

Gwen began bowling in the sixties at Hollywood Star Lanes and recalls the first memory of her involvement with the Los Angeles Bowling Senate as "at it's beginning!" She attended the very first inception meeting conducted by Reon Smith, Lou Lewis and Doris Haddock. Gwen has been an active member since.

Gwen participated among the ranks of other "old-schoolers" like Wanda Drew, Alice Gates, Juanita Walker and Donna Hall, who were all fellow members of a team created by Leon Puryear called the West Coast Dewar's team sponsored by Schenley Corporation. She and her teammates competed in many TNBA and non-TNBA tournaments over the years. Their accomplishments include: winning the Western Regional Rhodman Tournament and subsequent 3nd place win in the National Rhodman Tournament.

Gwen served as Western Regional Tournament Secretary for several years under the direction of Norm Grayson and Leroy Williams, and she served as Secretary under Herman Edwards for the Western Regional TNBA Junior Tournaments. Gwen has also been a member and Financial Secretary/Treasurer for Midtown Tournament Club for several years.

Throughout her bowling, Gwen has worked for the L. A. Unified School District as a bookkeeper, Financial Manager, Accountant, and Supervising Accountant and is where she eventually retired as Director of Payroll Administration. Gwen has been as proud and passionate about TNBA as she has been with her career at Los Angeles Unified. She says her association with TNBA has provided her with the opportunities to travel across the country competing in tournaments and making new friends affording her invaluable life experiences.
