LA Senate member Derrick (DJ) James shot a perfect game 3 while bowling the Mixed Team Event at the 2011 Ted Harris Memorial Classic - Bowl-O-Drome on March 20th. Pair 7 and 8 got real sweet to the bowler at the end of the second game, as an unorthodox equipment change lined him up for the perfect score.
DJ is no stranger to high games. This achievement marks his 14th sanctioned 300 award to date, but is his first sanctioned award during a TNBA event. This is one of numerous sanctioned achievements overall and is his second consecutive year of participating in the Ted Harris Classic.
The anchor man was able to string 'em together despite struggling the first two games. The conditions were so erratic, the athlete eventually started throwing his reactive resin SPARE BALL (a Storm "Big Hit"!) A Global 900 was used for games 1 and 2. He wasn't alone in his struggles however, as his teammates and many other tournament participants struggled through dry lane conditions.
James has been an avid bowler for over over 24 years, and has been a member of TNBA for 15. He has to his credit one sanctioned 800 series, which was achieved during league play at Southwest Bowl in August of '96. "Smash" is a 20 year member of the Southwest Invaders Bowling Club, and enjoys bowling the Tuesday night DPSS league at AMF Bowl-O-Drome, and Wednesday nights at Keystone Lanes' St. Johns League.
Congratulations to Derrick James for his achievement and entry into LA-Senate's 2011 Awards Club!
